The Whangarei District Council would seem to have adopted the motto “I’ve made my mind up, don’t confuse me with the facts”. This was evident at the recent meeting to discuss the future of the Whangarei Art Museum. One councillor said there was little public demand for a move into the old Library; yet another thought there was plenty of public support – neither view was supported by data.
It would seem again our council sees little value in measuring ratepayer opinion so as to put the facts beyond doubt.
