Having attended the public meeting regarding the future of the Town Basin, I am now less confident about Council’s intentions for the area. My recent survey showed that 71% of residents wish to retain public ownership (control) of the Town Basin. One would hope public opinion would count for something – apparently, it would seem not.

We have a quality product – why are we selling it so cheaply? So cheaply that the rate-payers are asked to pay for the dredging of the Hatea Channel, to keep the Basin open.
